Super quick spiderweb dip with with refried beans, an easy appetizer to make ahead for game day, parties, or potlucks!
I love to make this with 4 Ingredient Guacamole and serve it with allll the tortilla chips. It's so easy to make and comes together in less than 10 minutes, no cooking required! Plus peep the cute little olive spiders. Technically this is a spiderweb 7 layer dip with the green onions and olives on top, but there are 5 base layers.

We love to make this as a savory Halloween appetizer, sometimes with Easy Witch Hat Crescent Rolls (Halloween Treats) to be extra spooky! There's always so many sweet treats that it's nice to have something a little more substantial and dare I say... healthy. We love to serve it alongside sausage queso dip, or Spider Web Cookies, they're such easy sides for Halloween with very little prep.

Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Taste: Individual layers of beans with taco seasoning, guac, sour cream, salsa, cheese, and optional toppings. I add a few extra seasonings to keep the flavor delicious!
- Ease: No cooking required, beginner level. Super fun for kids to help with the olive spiders.
- Time: Takes 10 minutes to prepare if the layers (like guac) are ready made. Super quick, no fuss appetizer.
🛒 Key Ingredients

- Base: Refried Beans - I like to use fat free refried beans, but you could use full fat, or mashed black beans or pinto beans as well. I mix them with easy homemade taco seasoning so they have a little flavor.
- Creamy Layer - full fat or fat free sour cream work great, as well as unflavored greek yogurt.
- Guacamole - You can use plain mashed avocado, store bought guacamole as an easy shortcut, or fresh 4 Ingredient Guacamole.
- Cheese - Cheddar cheese, colby jack cheese, or a mexican blend of cheese works well.
- Optional Toppings - we love things like chopped green onions, tomatoes, and/or black olives.
See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.
✏️ Substitutions & Variations
- For a protein boost, sub half with plain greek yogurt or cottage cheese dip.
- Add taco meat for a 6 layer version! We love to do it with ground turkey for a lean protein option.
- Mini sized! You can portion everything into jars or small clear cups for fun grab and go sized servings.
- Make it spicy: use spicy salsa, pepperjack cheese, or spicy guacamole.
🧑🍳 Instructions

- Step 1. In a 9x9 square dish or 9 inch pie pan, spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom and sprinkle on 1 teaspoon of taco seasoning.

- Step 2. On top of the beans, spread guacamole.

- Step 3. Next, spread on the sour cream layer and sprinkle on 1 teaspoon of Ranch seasoning mix.

- Step 4. Spread the salsa over the sour cream.
TIP: Try to use chunky salsa, it can get a little runny over the sour cream if it's a thin variety.

- Step 5. Add the cheese and optional toppings (green onions, chopped tomatoes, olives, etc). Make a fun spider web by piping sour cream into a star shape, then connecting each leg of the star with "U" shapes in between.

- Step 6. Slice regular olives on top or make fun little spiders! Slice a few olives lengthwise in half for the bodies, then slice a few of the halves into little legs and place them on the bean dip. SO CUTE.
❄️ Make Ahead, Store, and Freezing Tips
Make Ahead: You can make this a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to serve, covered.
Refrigerate: 3-4 days, to keep the guacamole fresh looking.
Freezing: not recommended. Everything will get soggy.
