This quick and easy pumpkin fluff dip (with cream cheese) tastes like a fluffy, creamy pumpkin pie or pumpkin cheesecake mousse. It's bursting with fall flavors like cinnamon, ginger and cloves and is made with homemade whipped cream and cream cheese.
There is NO Cool Whip or Jello pudding mix in this pumpkin dip recipe, although you could easily substitute Cool Whip in if you wish. It's easy to make ahead, and we LOVE to bring this dip to Halloween parties, girls nights, or fun family gatherings.

Here's a simple list of ingredients to make pumpkin pie dip, with no pudding mix or cool whip to be seen.
- Pumpkin Puree - make sure it is 100% pure pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling!
- Cream Cheese - the base for the dip, gives a nice tart flavor and helps to stabilize the dip.
- Powdered Sugar - sweetens the dip without making it heavy, the cornstarch in the powdered sugar also helps to keep the dip firm.
- Heavy Cream - is the fluff in the pumpkin fluff dip.
- Spices- cinnamon, ginger, and cloves are used.
- Vanilla - an absolute MUST in the pumpkin cream cheese mixture. It is lovely.
✏️ Substitutions & Variations
- Cream Cheese- half of the cream cheese may be substituted with plain greek yogurt, or fat free or ⅓ cream cheese may be used.
- Spices - You can use 2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice mix in place of the cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Cloves can be swapped out with nutmeg or allspice.
- Cool Whip - a 16 oz container can be used, You may only need about ¾ of it, about 3 cups.
- The vanilla extract could be switched out with maple extract (½ teaspoon) for a lovely maple pumpkin dip!
- Add chopped nuts or toffee bits on top for added crunch!

- Step 1. In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to combine cream cheese and powdered sugar until combined, then turn the speed up to high and mix well for 1-2 minutes until it is smooth and creamy, scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary.
- Step 2. Add vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves to the mixture and mix until combined.
- Step 3. Pour in ½ cup of the whipping cream, and mix with the whisk attachment on low speed until combined. Add another ½ cup and repeat.
- Step 4. Add the last ½ cup of whipping cream and then turn the speed up to high, and whip for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is fluffy.
- Step 5. Gently stir in the pumpkin puree with a rubber spatula by hand until it it's mixed in completely.
- Step 6. Carefully transfer the dip to a serving bowl and place on a serving tray with graham crackers, apples, cookies, or pretzels to serve.
📌 Top Tips & Hacks
- Make sure the whipped cream is COLD when you begin to mix it in. It has to be chilled to whip, if it's warm or room temp you'll have runny dip indeed.
- Chill overnight for the dip to be a little firmer.
- Drizzle a little Instant Pot Caramel Sauce on top for a pumpkin caramel dip!
- Some individuals like the pumpkin fluff dip MORE sweet, if this is you, please add another ¼ cup of powdered sugar to the recipe.
